Tighten the deeper layers with buried stitches and redrape the skin using a short scar that does not extend behind the ear.
How is the surgery done?
An incision is made in front of the ear and around the hairline. 3 stitches are placed to lift the deep layers of the face. The wound is sutured and these will be taken out in 2 stages, 8 days and 2 weeks.
What kind of anaesthetic do I need?
Usually a General Anaesthetic supplemented with long acting local anaesthetic for post operative pain relief.
How long am I in hospital?
One night stay is usual.
How quickly will I recover?
Two to three weeks is usual although some patients recover more quickly.

Bleeding and infection are uncommon, less than 10%. Bruising may occur but is patient dependant. The scars will remain red for some weeks but can be covered by makeup.
